COPinAfrica 2019

ENGLISH VERSION BELOW FRENCH Les changements climatiques sont aujourd’hui un enjeu global. Aucun pays n’est épargné de leurs conséquences désastreuses, sur la santé des populations, la planète et l’économie du monde. Aujourd’hui, les jeunes constituent la plus importante génération que le monde ait connue. La plus part de ces jeunes vivent dans les pays en développement comme l’Afrique surtout dans les contrées vulnérables. Selon la déclaration d’Abidjan du sommet Climate Chance, « les jeunes constituent le monde de demain, tout particulièrement en Afrique où ils représenteront 28% de la population en 2040. Leur participation à tous les processus décisionnels dans ces domaines qui conditionnent leur avenir est donc un enjeu important. Nous serons particulièrement attentifs à leur implication et leur représentation dans les coalitions et initiatives qui poursuivront le travail engagé à Abidjan ». « COPinAfrica », est une initiative qui a permis de faire en une semaine plusieurs COPinMyCity sur le continent africain en 2016. COPinMyCity est un projet conçu et coordonné par CliMates, une initiative de démocratisation des négociations climatiques sous forme de simulation. Le projet COPinMyCity mobilise, engage et implique les jeunes du monde entier dans les enjeux de négociations internationales pour le Climat. La COPinAfrica c’est la COP25 en Chili ramené au niveau local avec trois phases (la mobilisation, la simul’Action, et le débriefing). La représentation Afrique francophone du projet COPinMyCity qui est représenté par le président de l’Organisation des Jeunes Engagés pour le Développement Durable OJEDD a pensé à l’organisation d’une COP locale Afrique des jeunes lors du Climate Chance Summit 2019 à Accra. Il est urgent de prendre des mesures adéquates et adaptées à chaque région, pour la lutte climatique. La jeunesse est l’acteur principal de cette lutte car elle est l’avenir et on ne peut que compter sur elle. No country is spared from their disastrous consequences, on the health of the people, the planet and the economy of the world. Today, young people are the largest generation the world has ever known. Most of these young people live in developing countries such as Africa, especially in vulnerable countries. According to the Abidjan declaration of the Climate Chance summit, "young people are the world of tomorrow, especially in Africa, where they will represent 28% of the population in 2040. Their participation in all the decision-making processes in these fields which condition their future is therefore an important issue. We will be particularly attentive to their involvement and their representation in the coalitions and initiatives that will continue the work undertaken in Abidjan ". "COPinAfrica" is an initiative that made it possible to make COPinMyCity in Africa in one week in 2016. COPinMyCity is a project conceived and coordinated by CliMates, an initiative to democratize climate negotiations in the form of simulation. The COPinMyCity project mobilizes, engages and involves young people from around the world in the issues of international climate negotiations. The COPinAfrica is the COP25 in Chile brought back to the local level with three phases (mobilization, simul’Action, and debriefing). The Francophone Africa representation of the COPinMyCity project, which is represented by the President of the Young Engaged Organization for Sustainable Development OJEDD, has thought of organizing a local COP Africa Youth at Climate Chance Summit 2019 in Accra. It is urgent to take appropriate measures adapted to each region for climate control. Youth is the main player in this struggle because it is the future and we can only count on it.
